APA (Industry) PhD Scholarship:
Local Capacity Regulation: Facilitating Participatory Environmental Policy

$27,771 per annum, tax free

This three year scholarship, leading to a PhD, is available through an APA (Industry) Grant to Professor Neil Gunningham of the School or Resources Environment and Society and Professor Clifford Shearing of the Research School of Social Sciences (RSSS) at the ANU. The successful applicant will be required to assess the effectiveness of current regulatory, quasi-regulatory and other policy strategies for environmental protection, with a particular focus on a collaborative approach to environmental protection policy that mobilises communities and embeds them in the co-management of environmental resources. Applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds are eligible to apply, however, experience/qualifications in a social science discipline and/or OHS/environmental policy would be an advantage. Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. The research will be conducted within the School or Resources, Environment and Society and the Regulatory Institutions Network, RSSS. The research project will be undertaken in partnership with the Victorian Environmental Protection Authority. The scholarship is conditional upon a research agreement being approved by all collaborating parties.
