Peggy Trompf

Education
Undergraduate degree in Sociology from Macquarie University, Graduate Diploma Occupational Health and Safety from University of Sydney, Graduate Certificate in Applied Ergonomics from RMIT.
Experience
Peggy has been involved in health and safety matters for 20 years. She is the former Director of the Workers Health Centre in New South Wales. Prior to that she was a Senior Officer with National Occupational Health and Safety Commission and has also worked as a lecturer and tutor at major universities in New South Wales. She currently runs a small consultancy as an occupational hygiene and ergonomics advisor to the Workers Health Centre, particularly in the construction industry. She is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia.
Research Interests
Peggy is currently writing a doctoral dissertation which examines the causes of fatalities in the construction industry in New South Wales. This includes an analysis of all court judgements on fatalities since 1990 to study the circumstances surrounding these deaths and the quantum of penalties imposed on offenders. The thesis also examines the role and motivations of federal and state governments in mounting Royal Commissions into the building and construction industry.
